Here’s a small interaction on Bloom’s Taxonomy.
Defining clear course objectives is not easy. To solve this problem, Benjamin Bloom and his collaborators published Taxonomy of Educational Objectives in 1956, popularly known as Bloom’s Taxonomy.
It is used to define six levels of human cognition, from simple remembering to creative thinking. Trainers and educators use it to develop learning objectives.
Designing a learning course without objectives is like taking a trip without deciding on a destination. You won’t know when you have arrived, because you haven’t decided what “arrived” means.
The levels of cognition help us better define what “arrived” means to the learner.
In this interaction, we wanted learners to fix six bulbs on the word cognitive to teach the following six levels of cognitive domain.
- Remembering
- Understanding
- Applying
- Analyzing
- Evaluating
- Creating
