The dominant office productivity software in the world is about to transform the employee experience platform market.
Microsoft Viva unites communications, knowledge management, learning, resources, and insights into a set of tools that natively integrate with Microsoft Teams, the #1 collaboration suite.
Driven by the need for remote work in 2020, Teams reached 115 million monthly users and over 30 billion collaboration minutes in a single day in the third quarter of 2020.
The pandemic has created investments of over $300 billion in employee experience, and Microsoft will capture a substantial portion of the market out of the gate.
Viva is big news for us. At Pixentia, Teams is our place for working together. It’s an ongoing conversation where we develop strategies and plans, exchange ideas, and share information.
Now, Viva will be where we learn and grow, encourage excellence, and care for each other.
Viva is a suite of four modules (and more coming):
1. Viva Connections is a portal to employees’ digital workplace. People can connect in town halls and access company news, policies, and benefits. They can also access groups or communities within Yammer.
Users have their personalized feed and dashboard, with connections to all their resources, in Viva and other applications.
2. Viva Insights is the analytics engine. Employees can stay connected, and protect time for regular breaks, focused work, and learning.
It even integrates with the mindfulness app Headspace to help your people reduce stress.
Individual data is available to individuals only. Aggregated and anonymized data protects their privacy.
Managers can use insights to monitor the risk of burnout and encourage their people to take advantage of the tools available to them to reduce stress.
Viva insights provides in-depth analysis, including organizational analysis, into work patterns and trends to uncover opportunities like well-being initiatives and office space design.
3. Viva Learning brings all you could expect from a robust Learning Experience Platform, including AI-driven content recommendations.
It integrates with LinkedIn Learning, Microsoft Learn, you're learning content, and training from Skillsoft, Coursera, and other providers. It already Links with Cornerstone OnDemand, Saba, and SAP SuccessFactors and will soon connect with other learning management systems.
4. Viva Topics helps your people find the expertise and content they need to get things done. Its AI engine automatically organizes content and expertise into categories—far removed from the clunky wikis we had in our ancient days.
Microsoft promises more in Viva in the near future. We believe it will become the go-to solution for the employee experience. We look forward to growing as Viva grows and to helping your company do the same.
